Scholarship Program Continues to Gain Support
Mary Lee Burmaster, local Insurance Agent, and John Haynes, Regional Vice President, Farmers & Traders
Life Insurance Company, Syracuse, NY, have joined the long list of generous supporters by contributing to the
“Miracle on the River” Scholarship Program.
Ms. Burmaster has a genuine fondness of River Hospital and its “angel-like” staff and wanted to give something
back in appreciation of the service they provide. “This seemed like the right thing to do”, remarked Mary Lee.
“As a resident of nearby Cape Vincent, I have observed the tremendous effort from the community and a very
dedicated group of citizens, including employees, which have brought forth a “miracle on the river”. I discussed
this opportunity to give to the scholarship program to John Haynes, who works as a liaison between the
company and agents to assist in marketing efforts, and he was very supportive of the idea to contribute”,
added Ms. Burmaster.
The “Miracle on the River” Scholarship Program was created in partnership between River Hospital Foundation
and River Hospital to raise funds and coordinate scholarship opportunities for individuals interested in getting
into the medical field of study, or upgrading their current level of education in exchange for a work commitment
to River Hospital. For more information on making a contribution, please call River Hospital Foundation at 315-
482-4976.
