First Donation Received for River Hospital Scholarship Program
Woodley-Dee Mechanical Contractors co-owner, John Woodley, along with his wife and manager, Christine
Woodley, received a request for support of the River Hospital’s scholarship program in the mail last week and
immediately sent in their contribution. “We are so glad River Hospital is close to our home and business in
Clayton. We use their services quite a bit, and when we saw that they were trying to raise money for this
scholarship, we wanted to help” remarked Chris.
The “Miracle on the River” scholarship fund will finance continued education, not only in the nursing field, but
in critical healthcare fields as well, in exchange for a work commitment to River Hospital. The program would
primarily fund (but not be limited to) alternative students, currently working at River Hospital, who want to
upgrade their skills to a higher level.
Working side-by-side with the Hospital, the River Hospital Foundation is seeking charitable gifts from
individuals, corporations and foundations dedicated to supporting the healthcare mission of the River Hospital
The Foundation launched the fundraising portion of the scholarship program April 7th with an enthusiastic
group of employees, administration and board members anxious to work together to help raise funds. The
Foundation mailed out information and a donor card to local businesses and individuals, employees at the
Hospital are selling candles to the community, with the proceeds also going to the scholarship fund and the
committee is currently working with Chuck Penn and Michael John Cavallario of Cavallario’s Steakhouse in
Alexandria Bay to hold a fund-raising dinner in May.
